The Kingston Academy

Specialist contractor Spectrum was appointed by Interserve to deliver the facade package on The Kingston Academy regeneration project.

The £15 million state-of-the-art building is located in North Kingston, close to the River Thames and Richmond Park. It has provided the existing secondary school with a huge range of new facilities including a sports hall and dance studio, lecture theatre, dining atrium and numerous modern science laboratories.

Award-winning architects, astudio, sought to enhance elements of the old building’s history, while incorporating modern architectural changes to drive efficiency, flexibility and create the most effective learning and community environment.

Our scope of work included the detailing, procurement and installation of 3500 sqm of SFS framing, 2050 sqm of Kingspan composite facade, 1200 sqm of recessed fixed aluminium cassettes, 850 sqm of render board and 300m of feature column casings, as well as a Corium brick tile cladding system to the ground floor and a new entrance canopy.

Spectrum’s in-depth understanding of the particular requirements of designing and delivering building envelope solutions for the education sector proved invaluable in assisting the design team with the project from an early stage. The Spectrum team worked closely with all parties in the supply chain to ensure that the project was completed on time and benefited from quality of design and delivery.
